Several PSG players have been engaged in the 2026 World Cup and many have been able to showcase their talent with their national teams while others struggled to prove their worth on the biggest stage.

Here are three PSG stars who have failed to deliver at the World Cup.

Three PSG players who have underperformed so far at the 2026 World Cup

1- Vitinha

Before the start of the competition, the Portuguese midfielder was expected to be one of the biggest players as Portugal entered the tournament with high hopes to go far. Alongside Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and PSG teammates Joao Neves, the Seleçao was supposed to have one of the best midfield of the World Cup.

However, the level demonstrated by Vitinha and his teammates is far below expectations as none of these players managed to really take control. This Portugal team has struggled up to this point in the tournament and it is largely because their midfield who is supposed to be led by Fernandes and Vitinha has failed to demonstrate their full potential. Nonetheless, they managed to clinch a dramatic 2-1 victory over Croatia, a game where Vitinha was brought off with having a real impact on the game.

2- Joao Neves

Neves' case is very similar to Vitinha's as Portugal was one of the dark horses of the tournament. While he managed to score a superb header in their opener against DR Congo. He has not been able to sustain that level in their following games in the competition.

Portugal will face Spain in the Round of 16 of the World Cup and the midfield battle will likely be the key to win this clash.

3- Désiré Doué

This one could be deemed harsh for Désiré Doué. The 21-year-old has already managed to score one goal for France, his first World Cup goal in the 4-1 victory against Norway. However, much more was expected of him at this point of the competition.

While it is entirely understandable that he could experience some types of struggle in his first big international competition, the level he has displayed if still far from what he had delivered under Luis Enrique at PSG. Before the start of the tournament, he was locked in a battle with PSG teammates Bradley Barcola for a spot in the starting lineup on the left wing. He was eventually chosen by Didier Deschamps but failed to deliver consistently as he was replaced by Barcola who is currently shining alongside Olise, Dembélé and Mbappé. With Barcola's recent performances, he will now likely spend more time on the bench.
