1- Ferran Torres starts PSG tenure with a crucial brace

Against Rennes, 2026 World Cup winner Ferran Torres made his first appearance for PSG since his move from Barcelona this summer and it was a memorable one. The Spaniard came off the bench at halftime and rescued a point for his team with a beautiful brace in the last 20 minutes of the clash.

In the 45+ minutes he spent on the pitch, he showed exactly why the club invested in him. He always made himself available to his teammates with intelligent runs in behind. His two goals came in this type of situations and his chemistry with Fabian Ruiz combined with his good finishing will certainly prove important for the club later in the season.

2- PSG was too fragile at the back

This game also showed the defensive weeknesses of the team as Rennes managed to create several opportunities to score while constantly bringing danger on fastbreaks. The team struggled to contain their offensive throughout the game.

Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia both failed to have a real impact against Rennes in the league opener and were both subbed off by Luis Enrique at the halftime break. These two players are undoubtedly the most influential players of this team and decided games several times in the last two seasons.

The team will without a doubt need them later on in the season and Luis Enrique taking them off at halftime in the opener of the league is certainly the best message he could send to his players: "No one is untouchable".
