With a very rotated side, PSG was held to a frustrating 1-1 draw on the road against Lille on Matchday 7 of Ligue 1 McDonald's. Substitute Nuno Mendes scored a marvelous free-kick to open the score for the visitors shortly after coming but former PSG player, Ethan Mbappé equalised in the dying embers of the game to rescue a point for his side.
3 key talking point as Paris drew 1-1 to Lille
1. Marseille, Strasbourg & Lyon are one point behind
Despite this disappointing result against Lille, Paris claimed back the top spot of the league, just before the international break. However, this result helped PSG's biggest opponents to close the gap between them in the table.
Marseille came out of Metz with a dominant 3-0 victory and following their win against Luis Enrique's side a few weeks ago, the team led by Roberto De Zerbi looks like a serious contender to the title this season. Though, Les Phocéens will need to keep their great form going while managing a challenging calendar with the Champions League. Additionally, Strasbourg is also a serious candidate for the title and we are set for an important clash between Paris and Liam Rosenior's side just after the international break, which could draw a clearer picture of the title race.
As for Lyon, while looking less dangerous in the title race, they are still an historical club in the league and have had a remarkable start of the season despite financial issues during the summer. While they do not look like a real title contender, they could be the big surprise of the season.
With Paris Saint-Germain expected to easily win the league this season, Marseille and Strasbourg could bring the best of this side and deliver an exciting race for the Ligue 1 title this season.
2. Quentin Ndjantou impressed in his first professional start with PSG
Quentin Ndjantou was undoubtedly the biggest surprise of Luis Enrique's starting lineup as PSG was travelling to Lille on Matchday 7 of Ligue 1 McDonald's. The French champions have a massive injury issue at the moment and numerous changes to their usual starting XI were expected, however, no one expected the 18-year-old to earn a starting role.
The PSG Academy graduate played 90 minutes and delivered a very solid performance in midfield alongside Kang-In Lee and Senny Mayulu. While Paris was on the back foot in the first 30 minutes of the game, his work rate and ability to keep the ball under pressure in midfield impressed.
After coming on against Auxerre and Barcelona, he seemed to have earned Luis Enrique's respect and will certainly feature more often with the first team, even after the injury crisis.
3. Lucas Chevalier's "mistake"
Ethan Mbappé, former PSG Academy player equalised for Lille against PSG, thanks to a well-placed shot inside the box, though, Lucas Chevalier could have saved this shot. The Frenchman appeared to struggle as the shot went through several legs before reaching him, subsequently making it harder for him to save the strike.
Many fans and observers slammed the former Lille goalkeeper, suggesting that he needs to avoid any further "mistakes" in the future. However, the France international keeper had a fantastic start for PSG this season, providing already numerous important saves while being already a fundamental piece of PSG's build up plays under Luis Enrique.
Of course, his mistake against Marseille was costly and will be remembered for long, but he remain a young goalkeeper, full of qualities and with an extraordinary potential, certainly set to become one of the best in the world at his position in the near future.
