2026 World Cup squads: Which PSG players were called up by their national teams?

The 2026 World Cup is fast approaching and several PSG players will be called up for the tournament to represent their respective countries. From this PSG team nonetheless, some will miss the event due to their countries not qualifying such as Georgian international Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov or Ukraine centre-back Illia Zabarnyi.

Others, on the other hand have not been called up by their international coaches like Lucas Chevalier. The France international goalkeeper was the second-choice goalkeeper for Didier Deschamps at the beginning of his adventure at the club. Unfortunately for the former Lille player, because of his underwhelming performances with the team, Luis Enrique opted for Matvey Safonov to finish the season as the first choice goalkeeper.

At the end, the 24-year-old was not included in France's World Cup squad and will watch the competition from his couch. Nonetheless, the Frenchman who sustained an injury after the semi-final clash against Bayern Munich should make his return to the team on Monday, in time for the Champions League final.

Which PSG players were called up by their national teams for the 2026 World Cup?

The France National team led by Didier Deschamps who will lead the team for his last competition has announced his squad for the World Cup, and while Lucas Chevalier missed out, five PSG players have been called up by Deschamps for the competition with Lucas Hernandez, Warren Zaire-Emery, Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué and Ligue 1 Player of the year Ousmane Dembélé all set to fly out to the United States.

PSG captain Marquinhos will also make the trip to the United States for the tournament after being called up by Carlo Ancelotti. He should be a key element of the Seleçao, alongside Neymar Jr. who is set to play his last World Cup. However, Lucas Beraldo whose role at the club has recently changed is not part of the squad set to represent Brazil for the tournament.

Additionally, the Portuguese national team have announced their 26-men squad for the upcoming World Cup, which will include four PSG players such as Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Joao Neves and Gonçalo Ramos. The squad also include Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo who is set to feature in his sixth World Cup.

Many more PSG players should be called up by their countries for the World Cup as more national teams are set to announced their squad for the tournament, including Spain, Korea Republic, Senegal, Morocco and Ecuador.
