PSG were given the toughest test of the season last weekend when Arsenal took them to extra time and penalties in the Champions League final. Kai Havertz opened the scoring for Arsenal in the 5th minute after racing through on goal and lacing it into the roof of the net. Ousmane Dembélé then equalised from the spot for Les Parisiens in the second half to ensure that Luis Enrique's side had control over proceedings. Arsenal became a tougher side for PSG to break down after the equaliser, which forced the game to extra time and pens, which PSG won.

Here at PSG Post, we discuss why Luis Enrique's side will go down in history after retaining the Champions League.

Why this Paris Saint-Germain team will undoubtedly go down in history?

They had to endure an extremely tough final against a stubborn Arsenal team

Prior to the final on Saturday, Luis Enrique described the Gunners as the best team in the world off the ball. This is not a bad take, as on the day, they were extremely hard to break down. The two-time European champions had 72 % possession compared to Arsenal's 28%, which is a testament to how well organised they were on the day. The Premier League champions could not play any other way if they wanted to win the final, as PSG arguably has the best attack in Europe.

Last season they played one of the most one sided Champions League finals ever against Inter Milan

Luis Enrique's side demolished Inter Milan 5-0 in last year's final. They became the first club in history to win a Champions League final by this margin. The result is impressive when you factor in that Inter Milan had a brilliant League Phase campaign and knocked out Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively. It was also the most important game in the club's history as it would have been their first Champions League final, and they had lost the previous final they had played against Bayern Munich.

They could three peat the Champions League next season

If Luis Enrique keeps the same core of players that retained the Champions League, then his team has a great chance of winning the tournament for a third time. The likes of Desire Doue (21), Senny Mayulu (20), Warren Zaire-Emery (20), Willian Pacho (24), and Nuno Mendes (24) are not in their prime, and Enrique could add quality players to the squad. If the club signs quality players, they will only get better, which is the last thing teams in Europe will want to hear.
