PSG are having a unbelievable domestic season. Thus far they have won 16 games, drawn five and lost none of the 21 league games they have played. This has sparked conversations regarding whether they could go unbeaten in the league. This will be a feat they want to accomplish as they have not gone unbeaten in a league season under the Qatari ownership. Here at PSG Post we discuss why they should prioritise winning the Champions League ahead of going unbeaten in the league.

Players could get injured

If Luis Enrique goes all out to go unbeaten then he could risk players getting injured down the stretch of the season. This could really hinder them in the Champions League if they have to play a tough opponent such as Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. The tough teams have been the French champions achilles heel this season as they have already lost to Arsenal, Bayern Munich at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Having a fully fit squad could be the difference between them going far in the Champions League and getting knocked out of the competition early.

They are on course to win the league

Les Parisiens are 10 points ahead of second place Olympique de Marseille. This means they can afford to lose games in the league as it is unlikely that they will catch up to them. This is a complete contrast to the Champions League where there is minimal room for error since losing one game could be fatal. Although going unbeaten in a league season is historic the French champions will not get an extra trophy for being invincible. Going unbeaten is something that may play on the players minds as they have not won the league going unbeaten.

The Champions League is the trophy the owners want the most

The Qatari owners have invested millions of pounds into the club on players but it has not resulted in success in Europe. The closest Les Parisens have come to winning the Champions League is getting to the final in 2020 whereby they lost 1-0 to Bayern Munch. Domestically it is a different story as they have won 10 of the last 12 league titles. If they don't get success in Europe's premier tournament then the Qatari owners may consider selling the club as they would have deemed the project unsuccessful. This would be unfortunate as they had the ambition to succeed.
