PSG have started reasonably well this Ligue 1 campaign winning five and drawing two of their first seven league games.

This is remarkable as it comes despite the adversary they faced in losing Kylian Mbappe this summer who departed on a free to Real Madrid.

To make matters worse they could not find any adequate replacement for their talisman. Fortunately, Bradley Barcola, who joined from Olympique Lyonnais last season, has stepped up this season.

Here at PSG Post, we discuss why Les Parisiens can still go up a gear despite starting the league season relatively well.

Why PSG need go up a gear after the international break

In the Champions League games they have underhwhelmed

Luis Enrique's side is yet to taste defeat in the league this season which is unsurprising as they still have the best team in the division.

The problem is how the team is performing in Europe. In their two Champions League games against Girona and Arsenal, they flattered to deceive.

They were toothless in attack against Girona in their first European game narrowly coming out 1-0 winners. Les Parisen's could not lay a glove on the Gunners when they lost 2-0 in their second European game which is a testament to how much Arsenal have improved under Mikel Arteta.

The likes of Marseille and Monaco have improved this season

PSG will have strong competition this season coming from the likes of Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco. Both of them have started well and will be even more hungry than Les Parisiens to win Ligue 1 as neither has won it in a while.

Marseille, with their passionate fanbase, will be keen to reclaim their place at the top, while Monaco, aiming to return to their former glory, will be determined to challenge for the title.
