PSG got outplayed by Enzo Maresca's Chelsea in Sunday's Club World Cup final. The West London side were the better side from start to finish when they demolished the European champions 3-0 courtesy of goals from Cole Palmer (brace) and Joao Pedro. On the day they wanted it more and had nothing to lose, as Les Parisiens were the overwhelming favorites.

This win will give Chelsea confidence ahead of the upcoming season as they beat the team that recently won the Champions League. To make matters worse for Les Parisiens, at the end of the match, João Pedro and Luis Enrique had a coming together.

Here at PSG Post, we discuss why the loss could be a blessing in disguise

They can't be complacent next season

The French champions know they must play at their best to win football games. In the French league, they don't usually need to play in first gear as they are the dominant force in their domestic league. This is particularly the case as they prioritise the Champions League games. If they overexert themselves for league games, they could risk an injury to a key player, which could be devastating before a massive Champions League game. Players need to avoid injury this season more than ever as at the end of the campaign, there is an expanded World Cup.

PSG knows that they have to strengthen their squad

Luis Enrique will want to improve his squad after seeing them get played off the park by Chelsea. Lucas Beraldo did not put in a performance that warrants a place in the starting eleven. If they do not do this, they could get knocked out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage. If Enrique signs a defensive fullback, then he won't have to worry about leaving spaces behind. He may also need more physical midfielders, as they were getting bullied by Chelsea's midfield. Caicedo performed the best out of all of Chelsea's midfielders.

Luis Enrique may change his tactics ahead of the new season

Enrique was beaten tactically by Enzo Maresca in the Club World Cup final. He adopted an aggressive pressing style of play, which was hard for Les Parisiens to deal with. Maresca opted for that way of playing as in a post match interview he explained ''if you leave spaces for PSG, they will kill you.'' They targeted Nuno Mendes' side as he loves to bomb forward and leave spaces behind. João Pedro and Cole Palmer drifted to the side of the pitch throughout the game.
