The transfer window is roughly a week away from closing. Thus far this transfer window PSG have signed Renato Marin, Ilya Zabarnyi and Lucas Chevalier whilst getting rid of some of the deadwood such as Nordi Mukiele, Milan Skriniar or Renato Sanches, while others like Randal Kolo Muani and Gianluigi are expected to depart the club soon. Nonetheless, following their historical 2024-2025 campaign Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Luis Campos remained calm and only looked to reinforce the squad at key positions.

Here at PSG Post we discuss why Paris Saint-Germain's transfer window has quietly been good thus far.

They have a ball playing goalkeeper

Luis Enrique has wanted a ball playing goalkeeper for some time prior to signing Lucas Chevalier from Lille. Whilst Gianluigi Donnarumma is a very brilliant shotstopper Chevalier is a better goalkeeper with his feet. The only issue is how good Donnarumma is when it comes to saving penalties. He had an excellent save rate when it came to penalties which is not a surprise when you consider his stature in goal.

This is crucial as the French champions could have a penalty shootout in the knockout phase of the Champions League. Having a shot stopper in goal is important as it was the difference in the semi-final tie against Arsenal last season. What works in Lucas Chevalier's favour is that he is France's second choice goalkeeper behind Mike Maignan. If he can prove himself for PSG then he could end up being France's number 1 goalkeeper.

They have got rid of some of the deadwood

Luis Enrique has sold some of the players who were surplus to requirements last season such as Nordi Mukiele, Milan Skriniar and Renato Sanches. For it to be an amazing transfer window they need to get rid of more players such as Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani. Both players need to move on as Les Parisens are stacked when it comes to attackers and it is a World Cup year. If they don't play regularly then they will jepordise the chances of playing in the World Cup next summer.

They have signed a centre back

Zabaryni is a stroud signing from Bournemouth as the y need a replacement for Milan Skrinar and Lucas Beraldo has not been performing well recently. Club captain Marquinhos is approaching his mid 30s and Presnel Kimpembe is an injury prone player. They have got to sell two more centrebacks and bring in another one for it to be a brillaint transfer window as some of the defenders they have defenders on their books which are injury prone/ not of substantial quality. Having injury prone defenders is not ideal as the likes of Willian Pacho and Marquinhos will need a rest during the season.
