On Saturday, May 31, Paris Saint-Germain is facing history as they are set to battle against Inter Milan at the Allianz Arena in the Champions League final. Luis Enrique and his players will not only aim to lift the first Champions League trophy in the history of the club but also to realise the first treble in the history of French football.

To face the Italian Giants, Luis Enrique and his staff will have to make difficult decisions, and most important decide who between Bradley Barcola and Désiré Doué should start this crucial game next to Ousmane Dembélé and Kvhicha Kvaratskhelia in the front line.

Who should start in the Champions League final Désiré Doué or Bradley Barcola?

Bradley Barcola:

The former Lyon player is having a fantastic season and became one of the most important players in the squad at the beginning of the season. He ended the Ligue 1 campaign as one of the top assists provider, delivering 10 assists while scoring 14 goals as he featured in all 34 games this season. Additionally, the France international winger recorded 21 goals and 17 assists in 57 games across all competitions in what is undoubtedly the best season of his career.

However, the 22-year-old had seen his status in the squad changed following the arrival of Kvaratskhelia at the club combined with Désiré Doué's excellent form after the winter break.

Nonetheless, Bradley Barcola slowly regained more minutes and his incredible qualities will undoubtedly be crucial for his side against Inter Milan. His pace and ability to eliminate his opponents in one-to-one situations could be the deciding factor in the final. Though him and Lamine Yamal are different, they share some similarities and following the Spanish player's display in Barcelona's tie against Inter could be reenacted by Barcola in the final.

Désiré Doué :

On the other hand, Désiré Doué became an important figure of the team in the second part of the season after a difficult start. The player who has been called-up with the French national team for the first time in March recorded the 13 goals and 15 assists so far this season across 53 games.

The former Rennes player played a massive role in Paris' run to the Champions League final, while beeing able to feature in both midfield and on the wings. Furthermore, his ability to play on the right wing allows Kvaratskhelia to play in his preferred left wing whereas Barcola pushes the Georgia international on the right side of the pitch.

Additionally, his qualities could be pivotal for his side against Inter, facing what is the best defence of the competition, Doué's ability to play and combined with his teammates in tight spaces could help his side to go past Inter's backline.

Why Désiré Doué should start in the final?

The 19-year-old should receive a starting berth from his coach for the Champions League final. His qualities should allow him to be a constant threat to his opponents, mostly against Gennaro Dimarco who is not the best defender on the wing.

Moreover, starting the game with Désiré Doué would be beneficial for the team as they will look to keep possession of the ball and play less directly against a side that will aim to profit from any ball lost by the French champions to counterattack quickly.

Bringing Barcola off the bench in the second half against a tired opponent will allow his pace to be even more lethal on the break or on quick offensive.
