The Club World Cup is the biggest talking point amongst football fans this summer. It is a tournament that has not gone down well with some fans in the football community, as the footballers have to play more football after a long, gruelling season. To make matters worse, the stadium has been half full for some of the games that have taken place.

This could be because some fans are not interested in the tournament, or the tickets for the games are too expensive. Here at PSG Post, we discuss why PSG's advancement in this tournament against Inter Miami has both negatives and positives.

PSG advance in the Club World Cup: A double-edged sword ?

Cons:

There is a good chance there will be more injuries as the players are playing more football. This will be a problem for the French champions if they get an injury to a key player before a massive Champions League game.

This could give Enrique a headache, as it could cost them a tie against a formidable side. Injuries towards the end of this upcoming season could be even more devastating, as the World Cup would be around the corner. At the back end of the 25/26 season, players may start to pull out of tackles as they know any injury could hamper their chances of playing in the World Cup.

If PSG wins the tournament, they would need to beat Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, or Man City. Beating this calibre of opposition could give the players the confidence ahead of next season's Champions League.

Pros:

That confidence could be the difference between them winning the Champions League again or falling short near the final hurdle. If they do win the Club World Cup, they should not rest on their laurels, as teams will want to beat them more than ever. It's hard to gauge what winning this tournament means for the players as this is the first edition of the Club World Cup in this format.

Whether the Club World Cup will have a detrimental effect on the club next season depends on how often the starters are used. The Club World Cup won't be doom and gloom for the players so long as Enrique gives the players rest during the Ligue 1 season, as they will not feel the effects of a hectic last 15 months.

The French champions have a squad brilliant enough to win Ligue 1 without starting players like Nuno Mendes, Ousmane Dembele, Achraf Hakimi, and Vitinha every game. The owners will want to strengthen the squad so that starters such as Mendes and Hakimi don't get complacent.
