Following a historical season, PSG started their FIFA Club World Cup campaign in the United States and will receive the support of one of their biggest fans, Jimmy Butler, the Golden State Warriors small forward. The six time NBA All-Star is a massive football fan and particularly loves Paris Saint-Germain, a team that he often comes to support at the Stade des Princes whenever he can.

Now, with the tournament taking place in the USA, the 2016 Olympic gold medal winner has been able to attend all of PSG's game in California and sees the competition as a great opportunity to improve the popularity of football in the United States ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

"I think the tournament is amazing," the 35-year-old NBA superstar told FIFA."I love PSG (Paris Saint-Germain), as I’m sure the world knows, so I’m glad that I’m able to be here in support. And it’s big for the United States, it’s big for LA. I’m happy to be here in support.

“I’m super excited. I think football, soccer here in this county, is on the way up. All the best players are coming here to build their brands and show their faces. It’s just going to give our youth another thing, another goal, another dream to reach for."

The Golden State Warriors forward then emphasised how important it was to attend the games to show support and enjoy some of the best players in the world, while backing PSG as his favourite to win the Club World Cup.

"You have to see it. I know we get to watch it on the internet, we get to watch it on TV, but it’s so much different in person. You get to come here and watch some, like, high-level football being played. I’m just excited to see who ends up on top, but I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be PSG."

Jimmy "Buckets" will now hope to Paris lift the FIFA Club World Cup trophy on July 13, which would be their fifth trophy of the 2024-2025 campaign. The European Champions are now set to face MLS side Seattle Sounders tonight in their third group stage game and need a win to secure a spot in the Round of 16 after their shock defeat at the hands of Botafogo on Matchday 2.
