Stade Rennais vs Paris Saint-Germain: Predicted lineup for Ligue 1 opener

Paris Saint-Germain are about to open their Ligue 1 season with a trip to Brittany to face Stade Rennais. The fixture who was initially set to take place at the Parc des Princes was reversed due to the horrible condition of the pitch. The situation also opened a rift between both sides as Rennes would also like to host the second fixture.

Following their loss to RC Lens in the Trophée des Champions, Luis Enrique should put a full strength team to take on Rennes to start the season in the best possible way as the Parisians prepare to defend both their title in Ligue 1 and the Champions League next month.

Here is Les Parisiens' predicted starting XI against Rennes.

PSG Predicted Lineup vs. Stade Rennais (4-3-3)

GK: Matvey Safonov - The Russian will start his first season at the club as the number one in between the posts and will have a lot to prove to fans and observers.

RB: Achraf Hakimi - The Moroccan will start against Rennes in the league opener as PSG start another title defence.

CB: Marquinhos - The club captain will make his return in the starting following the game against Lens in the Trophée des Champions. He will lead his team into another Ligue 1 campaign looking to add more silverware to his cabinet.

CB: Willian Pacho - The Ecuador international already seems in good form as the season starts and he will likely play a crucial role as PSG aim for a historical third consecutive success in the Champions League.

LB: Lucas Digne - With Nuno Mendes suspended for three games following his red received against RC Lens in the Trophée des Champions, it makes no doubt that Lucas Digne will start the game against Rennes.

CDM: Vitinha - The Portuguese is a key player of this team and Luis Enrique will start him as he intends to start the season in the best possible way.

CM: Fabian Ruiz - There are going to be a lot of discussions on whether to start Warren Zaire-Emery or 2026 World Cup winner Fabian Ruiz for PSG this season, but on this occasion, both should start alongside Vitinha as Joao Neves comes off the bench.

CM: Warren Zaire-Emery - He will start this game alongside Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz, unless Luis Enrique deems Joao Neves in a good enough fitness shape to start.

RW: Désiré Doué  - The Frenchman will start against Rennes on Sunday as PSG start their 2026-2027 Ligue 1 campaign.

LW: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia - The Georgian is one of the biggest favourites for the Ballon d'Or and will need more impressive performances to earned the individual award.

ST: Ousmane Dembélé - The 2025 Ballon d'Or comes off a very impressive World Cup and could make his first start this season as Paris travelled to the Roazhon Park.
