The French champions have the most important game of the season thus far on Wednesday when they host Liverpool in the first leg of a quarter-final tie at the Parc des Princes. They are playing a Liverpool side low on confidence after a 4-0 thrashing against Man City in the FA Cup at the Etihad.

Les Parisiens were relatively comfortable in their 3-1 home win over Toulouse on Friday. The result brought PSG closer to the title after Lens suffered a 3-0 loss away to Lille on Saturday. The gap between the two sides is four points, but the French champions have a game in hand and have to play Lens at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in May.

Despite getting outclassed on the weekend, the European champions should not take Arne Slot's side for granted. In the Champions League, the Reds have been a different side. They finished third in the league phase table and had noticeable wins against Inter Milan (0-1) at San Siro and Real Madrid at home (1-0).

The European champions will be unable to field their strongest eleven, as several players will be out of action. Bradley Barcola (ankle) has made his return to collective training but should miss the first-leg, while Fabian Ruiz (knee) is ramping up his return with individual training, and Quentin Ndjantou is working on his return. These absences will make an already tough task even harder.

Liverpool team news:
