PSG stars dominate Ballon d'Or nominations
As Paris won its first-ever treble, many players had an impacted on their success, as Luis Enrique led his side to become one of the best teams in Europe. The Spaniard coach will therefore be the frontrunner to win the Johan Cruyff Trophy, crowning the best coach of the season. Napoli's Antonio Conte, FC Barcelona's Hansi Flick, Chelsea's Enzo Maresca and Liverpool's Arne Slot are nomited for the trophy too.
Furthermore, Désiré Doué and Joao Neves also feature in the Kopa Trophy in addition to their nomination to the Ballon d'Or. Yamine Yamal who was distinguished last season features in the shortlist next to Kenan Yildiz, Rodrigo Mora, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Dean Huijsen, Estevao, Ayyoub Bouaddi and Pau Cubarsi.
Additionally, Gianluigi Donnarumma and future PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier will compete for the Yachine Trophy, rewarding the best goalkeeper of the 2024-2025 campaign. While Chevalier was named best goalkeeper of the last Ligue 1 season, Donnarumma played a pivotal role for PSG in their historical season and should be the favourite to win the second Yachine Trophy of his career. The other nominated players are: Thibault Courtois, Yassine Bounou, Emiliano Martinez, Yann Sommer, Jan Oblak, David Raya, Matz Sels and Alisson Becker.
To wrap up the lists of distinctions, the European Champions are also nominated for the Club of the Year trophy after a fantastic season on and off the pitch as the club led by Nasser Al-Khelaifi not only performed amazingly well throughout the season on the pitch but also created a splendid atmosphere with the fans. Premier League sides Liverpool Fc and Chelsea are also nominated alongside Brazilian giants Botafogo and FC Barcelona.
Unfortunately, and despite their fantastic seasons which contributed greatly to PSG's success throughout the 2024-2025 campaign, Bradley Barcola, Willian Pacho and club captain Marquinhos were not included in the Ballon d'Or shortlist.
