As many of his teammates in PSG's backline, Beraldo had a real hard time stopping Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro as Chelsea dominated Luis Enrique's side in the final. However, he proved many times last season that he was able to step up to the plate and replace Marquinhos or Willian Pacho in their historical Champions League campaign as he also did in the Club World Cup against Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappé in the semifinal.

Lucas Beraldo is looking for a bigger role elsewhere in Europe

According to L'Equipe, the Brazil international requested to leave the club throughout the tournament as he is looking to increase his playing time at the highest level. Though, Beraldo who joined the club 18 months ago from Sao Paulo is seemingly happy in Paris, he remains aware that he is mostly viewed as a back up behind Marquinhos and Willian Pacho in Luis Enrique's mind.

As he is looking to participate in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup with Brazil next summer he needs to gain more meaningful minutes on the pitch as a starter for a top European team to feature in Carlo Ancelotti's list for the competition.

Additionally, the club was reportedly surprised by Beraldo's request but as they intend to keep only players fully committed to the project within the squad, his request was granted as the European Champions are set to sign Bournemouth defender and Ukraine international Illia Zabarnyi soon. Furthermore, the expected arrival of the 22-year-old was certainly the deciding factor that pushed Beraldo to request a transfer to the club as his minutes would have been impacted negatively.

The 21-year-old player joined the club for €20 million from Sao Paulo in January 2024 will certainly cost over €30 million if Paris were to sell him this summer. As of now, no names of potential suitors have emerged for the Brazilian centre-back.
