Zaire-Emery’s olympic dreams in jeopardy if France falls

After a strong first half of the season with the Rouge & Bleu, he saw a dip in form during the first six months of 2024. He has admitted that his performance in the second half of the 2023-2024 season was not up to par.

Although he was called up for the Euro, he was also on Thierry Henry's preliminary list for the Paris Olympics. But PSG has vetoed this, as the capital club does not want their player to compete in two summer tournaments. The same applies to Bradley Barcola.

This Saturday evening, L'Equipe wondered if PSG's number 33 might have a slight chance of participating in the Olympics given Didier Deschamps' management of him. For his first major tournament with France, Warren Zaire-Emery is at the end of the bench for the Bleus, the sports daily noted.

Despite the situation of their youth player, PSG has not changed its stance and maintains that he needs a mental break and should not compete in two tournaments.

"In the France Espoirs team camp, it is made clear that Thierry Henry has accepted PSG's decision not to release its players and that the Zaire-Emery hypothesis is no longer considered," L'Equipe concludes by explaining that it is too early to predict whether a defeat for the Bleus on Monday against Belgium could change the scenario.

Zaire-Emery, who has never publicly hidden his desire to participate in the Olympics, would need to express his position again clearly.
