Will Marco Verratti stay out of the Italian squad?

With his future unresolved and no official game played for PSG this season, Marco Verratti might not be called up by Italy. Or at least that's what the local press speculates.

La Gazzetta dello Sport analyzes in its edition today the next international break and the first list of Luciano Spalletti with Italy. For the Transalpine newspaper, it is inevitable to think of a call-up without Marco Verratti, who has not yet played for PSG.

The international break is approaching and on Sunday night, after their match in Lyon, PSG will let their players called up to the national teams go. Normally, Marco Verratti's call-up with Italy is one of the first to be announced. But, will the Parisian midfielder be part of the first list of the new coach, Luciano Spalletti? The question deserves to be asked and La Gazetta dello Sport considers that it is "inevitable to think of an Italy without Verratti".

The PSG number 6 participates in all the training sessions led by Luis Enrique but he has not been called up for the first three games of the season. Waiting for his departure and being courted by Al-Arabi in Qatar, the Italian is still waiting for the question of his future to be resolved.

Italy will play two important games against Macedonia (Sep. 9) and Ukraine (Sep. 12) as part of the Euro 2024 qualifiers. The former Napoli coach insisted on having players prepared, and logically he could leave out Marco Verratti.

Barella is the only confirmation, with Tonali, Frattesi, Locatelli and probably Pessina and Cristante to complete the sector. Gianluigi Donnarumma could therefore be the only Parisian invited to Coverciano, for Italy's next match. Luciano Spalletti will announce his first list on Friday.
