PSG's midfield is the most important part of the team as the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar have departed from the club in recent years.

In the recent summer window, they did not find a replacement for Mbappe which is significant as whoever comes to replace the French captain has big shoes to fill.

The French champions did not even consider bringing back Xavi Simons a decision which they could live to regret. As a result, emphasis is now placed on midfield which is where football games are won and lost.

Here at PSG Post, we discuss why a midfield trio consisting of Vitinha, Warren Zaire-Emery, and Joao Neves is the best that they could field.

Why Zaire-Emery, Vitinha and Neves is PSG's best midfield

They have potential

Luis Enrique has a solid midfield core which he can call upon this campaign in Joao Neves, Vitinha, and Warren Zaire-Emery. All three are under 25 meaning that they can play a pivotal role in the club's future which is remarkable, to say the least.

Zaire-Emery has the most potential out of the three as he is the youngest and had a huge breakout campaign last season.

Manuel Ugarte was a young midfielder as well but he did not fit the profile that the French champions wanted as he is not good on the ball. As a result, they sold the Uruguayan international to Manchester United in the recent summer window.

The club have loaned many midfielders

PSG have sent Renato Sanches, Carlos Soler, and Xavi Simons on loan in the summer window. They also sold Danilo Pereira to Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad meaning the backup options to their preferred midfield three consist of Fabian Ruiz, a relatively unproven Ayman Kari, and Lee Kang-In who is a makeshift winger. This is far from ideal for a club that wants to go deep into the Champions League.
