Why the international break came at a bad time for PSG

PSG have started the season well winning all three league games. Their momentum has come to a halt following the first international break taking place early in September. Here at PSG Post we discuss why the timing of this break is not good for the French champions.

PSG have started the season well winning all three of their league games. In their three games, they scored 13 goals and conceded two.

Detractors will say they did not play the strongest of opponents in Le Havre, Montpellier, and Lille but they can only beat what they have in front of them. Their winning run unfortunately coincides with the international break. At PSG Post, we discuss why this international break has come at the worst time for PSG.

Players could risk picking up injury

The French champions have several players going on international breaks for different countries. To make matters worse not all of them play for European countries with Lucas Beraldo and Marquinhos called up for Brazil.

This is far from ideal as they are at risk of picking up a knockdown during a crucial stretch of the season with the Champions League about to start again. Luis Enrique will have a difficult job trying to convince the players to pull out of international duty if they don't have a valid reason for doing so.

They had momentum

Les Parisens had good momentum going into the international break with three wins from three games. This break stops this at the worst time as they could have continued this form going into a tough run of Champions League fixtures.

PSG's best players may come back tired from international duty and risk dropping points in a winnable game as a result of fatigue. This is not far-fetched as every team will turn up for a game against PSG as they are the dominant force in French football.
