Why PSG must keep Manuel Ugarte

Manuel Ugarte is a topic of conversation at the moment for two reasons. One reason is that he is performing well for Uruguay at the Copa America and another is because he has been linked to a move away to Manchester United. Here at PSG Post, we explain why the French club must keep him.

Manchester United have been talking to PSG about several options. One of them is defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte. They have good reason to be interested as defensively he is aggressive and makes tackles.

The Uruguay international is well-disciplined in his positioning and good in the opposition's final third. These attributes make him a more than adequate replacement for the departing Casemiro. Here at PSG Post, we explain why Les Parisens must do all they can to keep him this summer window.

He is a quality player

Manuel Ugarte is a brilliant player who is yet to tap into his potential at PSG due to a lack of game time. He was signed from Sporting last summer window for more than £50 million, agreeing a five-year contract.

The Uruguayan international was viewed as a Marco Verratti replacement. He has strengths that make him a very effective defensive midfielder such as his tackling and ball interceptions. Ugarte also has a good range of passing which is important for a midfielder.

Difficult to get a replacement

If PSG sells Manuel Ugarte it will send out the wrong message as he just transferred to the club last summer window. The French champions will also find it difficult to find an adequate replacement for him as clubs in Europe will know that they need to replace him. Manchester United would need to give them a free run at signing Joao Neves as the Red Devils are also linked to Neves.
