PSG drew 1-1 with Stade de Reims on the weekend away from home. Keito Nakamura scored early in the first half for Stade de Reims before Ousmane Dembele equalised deep into the second half for the French champions.

Luis Enrique's side are fresh off a narrow victory against Girona in the Champions League. On the night Les Parisens were extremely wasteful in front of goal. On the weekend they had fewer chances so they couldn't be as wasteful.

Here at PSG Post, we discuss why it is not a cause for concern for the French champions despite the fact they are joint top with Monaco and Marseille.

Why PSG's draw against Reims is not a cause for concern

It is very early in the season

We are only in September meaning players are only just reaching peak fitness. Many players would have played in the Champions League game against Girona midweek which would have put mileage on their legs. This should explain why Les Parisiens's performance against Stade de Reims was so timid.

Luis Enrique's side is more than capable of bouncing back and winning their next 10 games in the league given the quality difference between them and the rest of the league. Nassar Al Khalaifi's main aim isn't another Ligue 1 title but instead a first Champions League trophy.

Expect bumps in a Mbappe-less season

This campaign is unarguably a transitional one for the club as the players are getting used to life without their talisman Kylian Mbappe. It is always going to be difficult as it remains to be seen who can pick up from where Mbappe left.

Whilst the club has commendable attackers at their disposal none of them can compare to the French captain. Without Mbappe and the other superstars that they have had previously, there is less pressure to bring home the Champions League.
