West Ham and Frankfurt have rapidly emerged as frontrunners in the pursuit of Hugo Ekitike, the disgruntled Parisian striker, having already made concrete steps in the race to secure his services with the season already started.

According to information obtained by Le Parisien, "meetings with PSG" are already "on the agenda of both clubs" in order to "propel negotiations forward."

Hugo Ekitike, who seemingly came to his senses once and for all around two weeks ago and accepted that his future at PSG is highly unlikely, received the news about his precarious situation directly from Luis Campos on the morning of Aug. 9.

The purchase option tied to his contract, activated by PSG at the beginning of the summer and contingent on the current champions finishing in the top two of Ligue 1 last year, lost its significance as he was informed that PSG would not be counting on him this season.

Multiple clubs swiftly expressed interest in the wake of PSG's decision, even more following a fantastic showcase by the young Frenchman across Asia in the midsummer tour performed by PSG.

Everton and AC Milan have engaged in discussions with Ekitike's representatives, while Lyon's interest, led by president John Textor, has been noted. However, financial constraints limit Lyon's ability to afford his transfer fee and wages, although that might help PSG land their target from OL, Bradley Barcola.
