Sergio Kun Aguero leaks insight: "Messi will play in Rosario in June"
Former player and fellow Argentina international Sergio Kun Aguero might have revealed the future of world champion Lionel Messi when his deal runs out at PSG next summer.
The Manchester City legend conceded a live interview with Brazilian media outlet UOL and he had a very interesting insight to share.
Aguero said that Messi is going to play in Rosario next summer while referring to a game in honor of Maxi Rodriguez, a longtime friend and teammate of both Messi and Aguero at Argentina in the 2006, 2010, and 2014 World Cups. The game will pay homage to Rodriguez and is scheduled for Friday, Jun. 16, and it will be played in Messi's hometown Rosario, at the Newell's Old Boys stadium.
Sergio Aguero: "Messi will play in Rosario in June; he's seriously considering Newell's"
What is more intriguing, though, is what Aguero said after that. "[Messi] is seriously considering the possibility of playing for Newell's," said the striker who briefly played at Barcelona last year after Messi left for Paris.
Maxi Rodriguez, who was sharing the interview with Aguero, quickly tried to defuse the leak by saying that "Kun is Kun," adding that "he can't keep quiet." Too late, perhaps.
According to Rodriguez, we'd do better erring on the side of caution. "We'll see, it's difficult to talk about this then it becomes a giant ball of rumors," said the midfielder.
Aguero and Messi are the closest Argentine teammates in the last iteration of the senior international squad that ended up winning the World Cup even if the former didn't make the list for obvious reasons.
Even though he was already retired, Aguero joined the Argentine contingent flying to Qatar for the World Cup and, as had been the case for many years in the past, shared a room with Messi through the tournament.
If you have to believe someone when it comes to Messi's rumors, you better believe Aguero.
