Paris Saint-Germain legend Ronaldinho was a former player and PSG's top scorer (9 goals), despite starting only half of the league games, and was also chosen as part of the best eleven of the year in French football. He has expressed his desire for Kylian Mbappe (24) to win the Ballon d'Or while still with Les Parisiens.
Unlike Ronaldinho, who clinched the trophy in 2005, Mbappe has yet to secure the prestigious award. Despite surpassing his goal-scoring record last year, the French captain was surpassed by Lionel Messi, with Erling Haaland in second place, and Mbappe completing the podium in third.
Ronaldinho wants Mbappe, whom he describes as a good friend and a great player, to win the France Football prize while at PSG: "A great player like him can have the opportunity to win the Ballon d'Or with any team, but as I love PSG, I want him to do it with PSG," said the iconic former Barcelona player to AFP.
However, has that moment already passed? Mbappe's contract with Les Parisiens expires at the end of the season, and the next Ballon d'Or will not be awarded until the fall. Although the former AS Monaco player could remain at PSG beyond the summer, there are no reports yet of discussions regarding a contract renewal, and rumors of a summer departure persist. Therefore, Ronaldinho's wish might not come true.
