Despite the never-ending disappointments on the European scene, the Qatar-backed owners of PSG remain determined to make the club from the French capital triumph.

According to L'Equipe, The main plan going forward is not to lower their ambitions, not even for the benefit of their last grand target in the business world: acquiring Premier League classic behemoth Manchester United.

PSG's Champions League dream got shattered again this year. The capital club leaves the top of European competitions after enduring a new defeat against Bayern Munich this Wednesday (2-0), crashing out of the competition eating an 0-3 loss on aggregate through the two legs of another (the fifth in seven years) last-16 round.

A new misadventure that, however, does not change the long-term intentions of the Qatari sovereign wealth fund and owner of PSG, Qatar Sports Investments.

Investors in the small emirate have recently taken a concrete position to buy Manchester United, and PSG are often linked to the deal if only because of the bid and its backers' country of origin. However, a gradual withdrawal of the capital club in favor of the Red Devils is not contemplated.

Qatar will not reduce their level of attention to PSG even if they end up taking over Man Utd

According to information from L'Equipe, the potential acquisition of the English club is not a recurring subject in the Parisian offices. In the Middle East, seeing Qatar toning down its ambitions of building a world-soccer-conquering PSG could be compared to a serious admission of failure.

Also, the investment fund that is likely to take over Manchester United will not be the same as PSG (QSI), or that's what they are selling everybody.

UEFA strictly prohibits the same shareholder from owning two clubs participating in the same European competition. Finally, PSG owner, Tamim ben Hamad Al-Thani has a reputation as a fervent supporter of the Parisian club.

According to the aforementioned sports outlet, Al-Thani would not be trying to leave the Parisian club in favor of his English fellows, not even lowering the level of demand for the PSG leaders.
