PSG wants to secure breakout star amid European giants' interest with contract extension
By Manuel Meza
Having completed a second outstanding season with Paris, Vitinha is attracting attention across Europe, and PSG is determined to "lock him down" and extend his contract.
This likely comes with an attractive salary offer for the Portuguese player.
Representing many PSG players, as well as several associated club figures ahead of the upcoming transfer window, the renowned Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes was seen in Paris last weekend.
PSG announced Saturday evening, just before their draw against Le Havre, the contract extension of Warren Zaire-Emery until 2029 (actually, until 2028+1).
Agent of the young French international, Jorge Mendes also represents Vitinha, who has had another stellar season with PSG (9 goals and 5 assists in 42 matches) and has become an indisputable starter under Luis Enrique.
Arriving in the capital in 2022 from Porto for €40 million, the 24-year-old Portuguese midfielder is under contract with PSG until June 2027.
Vitinha attracting significant interest in Europe
According to RMC Sport, the club wants to secure their key players before the start of the summer transfer window and is thus looking to extend Vitinha's contract.
His performances in the Champions League, in particular, have caught the eye of many top European clubs. Discussions have already begun between PSG and Jorge Mendes, who was also in Paris in recent days to handle this matter.

Last March, L'Equipe published its traditional report on Ligue 1 salaries, and although they are only estimates, Vitinha was not among the 18 highest-paid PSG players in the squad.
However, in the event of a contract extension, his salary will likely be increased, moving him up in the PSG salary hierarchy.
Could Vitinha also be in the Top 10 earners at PSG?
Since his recent extension, Warren Zaire-Emery, for example, has reportedly entered the Top 10 earners at PSG, according to RMC, earning around €700,000 gross per month.
Given his status in Luis Enrique's team, it would not be surprising if Vitinha's salary is also in that range.
Finally, it was also reported over the weekend via RMC Sport that PSG hopes to sign a first professional contract with their young and promising midfielder Senny Mayulu (17 years old) by the end of May. Mayulu has made seven appearances with the first team this season.
