Paris Saint-Germain are returning to club action on Sunday, 1st October, after a majority of players featured for their nations during the international break.

So far, the D1Arkema have only had one set of games played, with both PSG and Lyon getting comfortable wins to begin their season. After the first week, Lyon sit on first, and PSG on third, with Paris FC placed in between the former two.

It's been a while since PSG have been able to celebrate a victory over Lyon, with their last win coming in 2022 when Kadidiatou Diani ( Now OL player ) scored to give PSG a 1-0 win.

In 2023, Paris have faced a total of three defeats to Lyon: 2-1 in the final of the French Cup, 1-0 in a title-deciding game in the league, and just a few weeks ago, 2-0 in the Trophee Des Championnes.

Safe to say how important a win would be for them on Sunday, and especially for new head coach Jocelyn Precheur, who has recently taken over after the parting of Gerard Precheur from the club.

Squad updates

With this being Jocelyn's first game as head manager, it will be interesting to see what he produces for his first game.

Grace Geyoro's involvement is very unlikely after the captain picked up an injury during her time with the France squad for the Nations League.

Also, it remains to be seen if Viola Calligaris can take part, as she's been out due to injury and Manssita Traore was chosen as a replacement against Bordeaux.

PSG Post prediction

PSG 1-2 Lyon

While PSG should display a better performance than the last time they faced their rivals, it will still be a challenging game for them to overcome. It would for sure be quite a statement if PSG could get a long-awaited win, but with this fixture coming so early on in the new season, it will just be too big of a job too soon.
