PSG signed Hugo Ekitike from Reims, hoping that the player would replicate the impression he had made in the 2021/2022 season, where his effectiveness with Reims was positioning him as a great prospect in French football.

However, his move to Germany has now been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.

The challenging arrival of Ekitike to the Parisian squad

His arrival at Paris Saint-Germain did not yield the same results as with Reims. However, his playing time was limited due to the club's extensive squad and a formidable attacking trio of Neymar, Mbappé, and Lionel Messi.

The 21-year-old managed to carve out a place for himself. He made 32 appearances in the 2022/2023 season, contributing 4 goals and 4 assists, primarily as a substitute.

PSG deemed these statistics insufficient, prompting them to loan him to Eintracht Frankfurt, where he has only scored 1 goal in 10 Bundesliga matches, mostly coming off the bench.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the German club has officially activated the purchase option to sign Hugo Ekitike from PSG.

The sale price was set at €16.5 million, with PSG receiving the fee in addition to the €3.5 million loan commission already received.

PSG's revenues will be earmarked for the next transfer market

For PSG, this sale is crucial for continuing to generate profits from transfers, which can be reinvested in key player acquisitions for the upcoming season and, above all, in their long-term club-building plan under the guidance of Luis Enrique and to continue competing strongly in every competition they participate in.
