In their pursuit to strengthen the midfield, PSG has made significant moves this summer. The Parisian club successfully secured Joao Neves, marking a key addition to their squad. However, they also had their eyes on another talent, Youssouf Fofana, who ultimately chose to join AC Milan instead.

Throughout this summer transfer window, PSG prioritized bolstering their midfield, with numerous players linked to the club since the market opened in June. Joao Neves, who officially joined PSG last week, was a major acquisition. But the club also considered Youssouf Fofana, a prominent figure at AS Monaco and a French international who had impressed with his performances in the past season.

Fofana’s consistent displays on the field caught the attention of several top clubs, including PSG and AC Milan. Despite being a strong contender early in the transfer window, PSG seemingly shifted their focus away from Fofana, opting instead to finalize their deal with Joao Neves.

Meanwhile, AC Milan continued their pursuit of Fofana and succeeded in bringing him to Italy. On Saturday, AC Milan announced the signing of Youssouf Fofana, who has committed to a four-year contract, keeping him at the club until June 2028. The Italian giants paid a total of €25 million, including bonuses, to secure the services of the 25-year-old midfielder.

While PSG has built a solid midfield with the addition of Neves, the departure of Fofana to Milan signals the club’s decision to explore different options in their pursuit of success. The transfer highlights the competitive nature of the summer window, with clubs across Europe vying for top talent to boost their squads.
