PSG's winter transfer window strategy unveiled by Luis Enrique
Paris Saint-Germain's head coach, Luis Enrique, engaged with the press ahead of the Parisians' clash in the Trophee des Champions (French Super Cup) against Toulouse at Parc des Princes. As the January transfer window opens, the Spanish coach admitted his desire to make signings across all positions. The following was transcribed by RMC Sport.
"Speaking as a coach, if I could have several players in each position in this transfer window, I would be delighted," began the former Barcelona manager. "We'll be attentive to the transfer window, but not just in midfield. In all positions, it's a complicated market, but if there are opportunities, we'll pursue them."
The French champions have already finalized the signing of young Brazilian central defender Lucas Beraldo (20) for around €20 million to bolster their defensive coverage. "He's the first player of this window and has already been able to train. We've seen a bit of what we already knew."
"We always try to gather as much information as possible about a player. A very important component is that we want players to have a fighter's mentality, be professionals, and take care of their daily lives, and Lucas Beraldo meets all those requirements. He's a very interesting player for the future."
Sao Paulo's defender was set to arrive concurrently with Corinthians' youngster, Gabriel Moscardo (18), but his transfer has been postponed due to a foot injury detected during his medical examination. Enrique disclosed little about the stage of the young player's transfer, adding, "I'm not in a position to give you information about players who are not yet at PSG."
