PSG's Sancho deal slips away in transfer frenzy
Throughout the summer 2024 transfer window, PSG has actively pursued several offensive targets. Among the names linked to the Parisian club was Jadon Sancho, but it appears that pursuit has been in vain.
As the transfer window opened, PSG found itself in a race to find a suitable replacement for Kylian Mbappe, the club's all-time leading scorer, whose departure left a significant void. High-profile names such as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Rafael Leao, Nico Williams, Kingsley Coman, Victor Osimhen, and Jadon Sancho all featured prominently in PSG's transfer discussions.
However, with just days remaining before the transfer window closes, none of these players have signed with PSG, and it's looking increasingly unlikely that any will.
PSG's Sancho deal slips away in transfer frenzy
According to Loic Tanzi, a journalist for L’Equipe, PSG currently has no plans to sign an additional forward, despite the ongoing rumors. This trend is particularly evident regarding Jadon Sancho, who has struggled at Manchester United under Erik ten Hag, leading to speculation about his departure.
PSG was once considered a potential destination for the 24-year-old English international, but as the transfer deadline approaches, that possibility seems to have faded.
After a reasonably successful loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, Sancho might have hoped to secure a move to PSG. However, neither Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United nor Luis Enrique’s PSG seems interested in offering him a spot in their squads as the new season begins.
Consequently, Sancho, once a recurring name in PSG’s transfer rumors, is now reportedly being linked to Chelsea and Juventus. David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that "Jadon Sancho is expected to leave Man Utd before the deadline," with negotiations underway between Manchester United, Chelsea, and Juventus for either a permanent transfer or a loan deal.
For Chelsea, however, an outgoing transfer may be required to accommodate Sancho, with Raheem Sterling potentially moving to Manchester United in a swap deal. This exchange scenario has been corroborated by Gianluca Di Marzio, who notes that Chelsea's management remains determined to explore this option.
