PSG's bold move for Dean Huijsen faces intense rivalry
In search of a central defensive reinforcement, PSG has set its sights on Juventus Turin's Dean Huijsen. However, competition for this player will be fierce.
With less than a month before the start of the season, PSG needs to accelerate its transfer activity. To date, only Matvey Safonov has been signed by the Parisian club. While the Joao Neves deal is progressing well to strengthen the midfield, PSG is targeting Dean Huijsen for the defense. Under contract with Juventus until 2028, the Spanish-Dutch player recently completed a successful six-month loan at AS Roma.

PSG's bold move for Dean Huijsen faces intense rivalry
Dean Huijsen’s young profile might align with the style desired by new coach Thiago Motta. However, a departure this summer could allow Juventus to recruit a more experienced central defender, such as Jean-Clair Todibo. "Juventus's argument is purely economic: Huijsen is strong, young – born in 2005 – and has many admirers in Europe who could bring millions into the Juventus coffers for reinvestment in the market," explains Gazzetta dello Sport.
Evidence of Juventus's lack of reliance on their 19-year-old defender is his exclusion from the pre-season camp in Germany, along with Arthur Melo and Mattia De Sciglio.
It remains to be seen if PSG will soon take action by making an initial offer. The Parisian board must act quickly, as competition will be tough. Gazzetta dello Sport notes that Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen have already expressed interest in the Spanish youth international. Additionally, two other German clubs, Stuttgart and Bayern Munich, have also listed Dean Huijsen in their shortlists.
The competition between PSG and the German clubs promises to be intense. For reference, the 1.97m defender is under contract with Juventus until 2028, and the Turin club is asking for €30 million to part with their 19-year-old player.
Alfredo Pedulla also provides additional information on the Dean Huijsen case. According to the Italian journalist, Stuttgart and Wolfsburg have shown interest in the 19-year-old defender. A Premier League club, Bournemouth, has also appeared on the scene. However, other English clubs could quickly add the Spanish-Dutch player to their shortlists. Nonetheless, according to Alfredo Pedulla, Dean Huijsen would prefer PSG.
