PSG announced their gameday squad for the Ligue 1 match against Montpellier and it didn't feature any heavy suprises in terms of players present and absent.

In line with Luis Enrique's earlier announcement at his press conference, Marco Asensio won't play on Friday despite returning to group training a few days ago, mostly because he's not quite there in terms of match-fit in shuch short notice.

As anticipated, the absentees include Spanish forward and the already-known quartet of injured players: Keylor Navas, Danilo Pereira, Presnel Kimpembe, and Nuno Mendes.

Additionally, Luis Enrique opted to personally leave striker Hugo Ekitike out of his gameday squad, though that's hardly surprising at this point with PSG looking for an exit for their youngster in the January transfer window.

In a positive development compared to the previous week and the game against Brest, Marquinhos made his return to the squad after overcoming some thigh problems.

Layvin Kurzawa, who has now recovered from an illness, also secured his place among the 21 players making today's gameday squad.

Finally, Ethan Mbappe, the younger sibling of Kylian Mbappe, was forced out of the team with no room to carry him into this week's game against Montpellier scheduled for 9 p.m. on Friday.
