During the 2024 summer transfer window, PSG strengthened their squad with four new signings. However, on the departures front, the club from the French capital had been relatively inactive until now. While waiting for Manuel Ugarte, it is Nordi Mukiele who is leaving Paris.

Having joined PSG from RB Leipzig for €12 million plus €4 million in bonuses during the summer of 2022, Nordi Mukiele is leaving the club after two seasons. Although he managed to establish himself under Christophe Galtier, the arrival of Luis Enrique hindered his progress. With limited playing time, the defender was clearly out of the Red & Blue project and was encouraged to find a way out this summer.

Mukiele’s exit is just another change in PSG’s defense, showing how the club’s strategy is shifting under Luis Enrique. The new management is all about bringing in fresh tactics, and unfortunately for Mukiele, he just didn’t fit into their plans despite his versatility and past performances. His departure is part of a bigger overhaul as PSG looks to shape a squad that matches the coach’s vision for the season ahead.

After a failed loan move to Bayern Munich last winter, Nordi Mukiele will indeed play in the Bundesliga this season. The Frenchman joins Bayer Leverkusen, the league’s unbeaten side, on a loan deal without a buy option. The German club is expected to cover his entire salary. The traditional medical exam was successfully completed on Wednesday, and the contract has been signed. PSG said in an official statement:

"Paris Saint-Germain wishes Nordi Mukiele all the best with Bayer Leverkusen."

Mukiele could be part of the VizeKusen squad this Saturday against Leipzig. Speaking on the German team's X account, the 26-year-old Frenchman said:

"For me, it’s a good thing to return to Germany and then become Bundesliga champion."
