PSG make Marquinhos extension until 2028 official

In a highly anticipated move, Marquinhos has committed his future to Paris Saint-Germain for the foreseeable future with his new contract linking him to PSG until June 2028.

The club confirmed the contract extension on Friday, solidifying the Brazil international and long-time PSG defender's continued presence in the City of Light.

Marquinhos, who joined PSG in the summer of 2013, has become an integral part of the team. Following Thiago Silva's departure in the summer of 2020, the 29-year-old assumed the captain's armband, assuming a leadership role within the Rouge & Bleu.

Originally set to remain at the club until 2024, Marquinhos has now extended his stay for an additional four seasons, keeping him at PSG until June 2028.

With an impressive 405 appearances, Marquinhos currently holds the distinction of being the third most-capped player in PSG's history, trailing only Marco Verratti (413) and Jean-Marc Pilorget (435).

Marquinhos' contract extension solidifies his status as a long-term member of the Rouge & Bleu, as he looks forward to scripting the next chapter of his career with the club.
