Marco Verratti has agreed to a deal with Qatari club Al-Arabi and is set to leave PSG before Friday according to RMC Sports. This decision marks the final step in what had been a series of weeks filled with speculation and rumors regarding Verratti's future in Paris, with an exit the most probable (and now confirmed) outcome.
RMC reports that PSG and Al-Arabi have reached an agreement on the transfer fee, estimated at approximately €50m. Sources suggest that Verratti is already in Qatar, indicating the imminent nature of his move.
This decision is a bit shocking considering PSG extended Verratti's contract just eight months ago with his new deal running through June 2026.
Earlier on Wednesday it was leaked that PSG had left Verratti out of their 23-man squad for the Champions League squad, which already revealed the intentions of the club in the final two days of the summer transfer window in Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
PSG's coach Luis Enrique and sports director Luis Campos made it clear to Verratti at the beginning of August that he was not part of their plans for the near and long-term future.
Consequently, Verratti did not feature in a single official match for PSG this season, making his departure a significant and transformative moment in his career albeit a forced one. Bye, Marco.
