PSG join Man Utd, Chelsea, Bayern in race to sign FC Barcelona superstar

PSG have once again been linked with an FC Barcelona midfielder, who is also reportedly of interest to Manchester United, Chelsea, and Bayern.
The future of Frenkie de Jong at FC Barcelona has sparked the interest of several European giants. According to Fichajes, Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are closely monitoring the situation surrounding the Dutch midfielder, whose contract with Barcelona runs until 2026.
While Barcelona have been keen to secure an extension to his current deal, negotiations have yet to reach a breakthrough, leaving room for speculation about his future.
Barcelona have been working for some time to ensure De Jong's long-term stay at the club. Their aim is to finalise a contract renewal that would not only solidify his commitment but also help ease the club’s financial burden by restructuring his salary.
However, De Jong has taken a more cautious approach, showing no urgency to make a decision on his future despite ongoing talks. His measured stance has naturally caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs, all eager to land a player of his calibre should the opportunity arise.

While Barcelona hope to finalise De Jong's new deal before the end of 2024, progress has been slower than anticipated.
Should an agreement not be reached in the coming months, the Catalan side could find themselves in a difficult position. The prospect of De Jong entering the final stages of his contract without an extension could force the club to consider selling him in the January transfer window to avoid losing him for a cut-price fee further down the line.
Manchester United have long been linked with the Dutchman, while Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and PSG are reportedly keen to bolster their midfield options with a player of his experience and quality.
It seems unlikely that PSG will look to sign another midfielder in the short term, unless one of the many they already have, such as Fabian Ruiz, departs.
