PSG interest in Marcus Rashford and Manu Kone confirmed by insider
According to football insider Fabrizio Romano, writing in his newsletter on Wednesday and late last week, PSG made a strong push to acquire Manchester United forward and England international Marcus Rashford last summer and is plotting an offer for French youngster Manu Kone.
On the Wednesday edition of Romano's newsletter, the journalist confirmed PSG's interest in acquiring Rashford through the summer transfer window.
Romano thinks that PSG "really wanted Marcus Rashford in the summer of 2022," also revealing something quite interesting in saying that PSG already liked Rashford in the summer of 2021 when Mauricio Pochettino was still managing the team.
Although Rashford was strongly chased by PSG, it wasn't a very realistic target according to Romano, as the journalist thinks there was a "0% chance" of new Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag letting Rashford leave last summer or through the last winter transfer windows.
Man Utd and PSG will fight for the privilege of landing Manu Kone next summer
In another entry of his newsletter from late last week, Romano also informed about another player that is of interest to both PSG and Manchester United: Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone.
Romano thinks "PSG always follow top young French players," name-dropping Manu Kone (who will turn 22 years old next May) as a potential target for the Parisian club.
It is still unknown if PSG will really chase the young Frenchman, although there are some links between the player and Paris considering Kone came from the Paris FC academy where he spent three years back in the 2012-15 span before joining the senior ranks of Toulouse prior to moving to Germany.
Once PSG decide who will manage the team next season, with Christophe Galtier most probably sacked than not, transfer plans will get much clearer for all parties involved.
Until then, though, it's hard to predict what could happen next considering the different points of view and roster-construction ideas that each particular manager might bring to the table.
For now, though, Romano revealed that both Manchester United and PSG are "in the race" to end up signing Kone through the summer.
