PSG forward sale faces complications days before transfer window closes
The winter transfer market approaches its final phase, and the completion of the hottest transfer in PSG is still not secured. Complicated negotiations between the Paris Saint-Germain and Eintracht Frankfurt could hinder Hugo Ekitike's move.
Since the beginning of this winter market, the destination of Hugo Ekitike has been a top priority for the Paris Saint-Germain executives. After a busy summer in 2023, PSG's number 44 has been sidelined since the start of the season, placing him back on the market in January.
Eintracht Frankfurt, among others, has positioned itself to sign the former Stade de Reims player, competing with teams like Wolfsburg and Wolverhampton. However, recent reports in the German and French press indicate that the current sixth-placed team in the Bundesliga is the club most inclined to advance in the pursuit of Hugo Ekitike, and this information is confirmed today with the announcement by Fabrice Hawkins on RMC Sport.
Hugo Ekitike has been on Eintracht Frankfurt's radar since the summer of 2023, and the German club has made an offer. PSG rejected the proposal, which included a loan with a purchase option of 20 million euros, including bonuses. It is worth remembering that PSG paid close to 36 million euros to sign Hugo Ekitike from Stade de Reims.
According to Fabrice Hawkins, the player already has a preliminary agreement on a contract with Eintracht Frankfurt and would be willing to reduce his salary to finalize the deal. However, the transfer could complicated a week before the close of the winter market.
