PSG confident in retaining Kylian Mbappe past June 2024

As Kylian Mbappe's contract approaches its conclusion on June 30, 2024, PSG remains unperturbed about the player's future according to the latest reports, as the French club still believes in the promise he made upon his return to Paris last summer.

With the saga repeating itself after it run for the first time two years ago, the speculation surrounding Mbappe's future is anticipated to be a focal point in the latter part of PSG's season and as we get closer to next summer.

The 24-year-old world champion, whose current contract expires on June 30, opted against activating the option to stay an additional season at PSG, and the French club has since been resigned to accept that significant developments on an extension are unlikely before the initial months of 2024 if not closer to June.

Despite the uncertainty, PSG is not overly concerned about Mbappe's future, as reported by L’Equipe on Friday.

Last August, during his return to the PSG squad after a month-long hiatus, MbappE and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi reportedly reached an agreement ensuring that the player's departure wouldn't leave the capital club empty-handed.

This commitment from Mbappe would have given PSG a reason to remain calm on the future of their franchise player, suggesting that if he were to depart, it would come with financial compensation to offset the substantial sporting loss. Whether Mbappe would be the one compensating PSG or not is unknown.

The trust between the player and the president is another factor favoring PSG, as the French side has certainly played a pivotal role in resolving the deadlock last summer by allowing Mbappe to keep playing games ahead of Euro 2024 and the Olympics to be held in Paris next summer.

While PSG expresses confidence in the prospect of extending Mbappe, it's widely known that behemoths Real Madrid and Liverpool are actively monitoring the situation and expected to offer Mbappe a deal once he becomes a free agent in July.

Real Madrid maintains optimism in its chances of landing their long-chased target, while Liverpool, a persistent candidate since their initial pursuit in 2017, remains another under-the-radar possibility.
