PSG and other top European clubs discovered their fate for this campaign's Champions League yesterday evening. This year's edition differs from previous years as 36 teams will play eight fixtures, four home and four away, in a league format against varying opponents.

Following yesterday's draw PSG learned they would play against Man City, PSV, Atletico Madrid, and Girona at home while travelling to Bayern Munich, Stuttgart, Salzburg, and Arsenal. Despite being handed difficult fixtures here at PSG Post we discuss why PSG can still progress as one of the top eight teams in the new league format.

They will want to prove a point without Mbappe

The French champions will be spurred on this campaign without the services of Kylian Mbappe. They will want to show that they can still compete for Europe's top honors without their talisman.

This season they have been more free-flowing without the French captain having scored 10 goals in their first two league games. Luis Enrique's detractors will say they did not play against the strongest of opponents in Le Havre and Montpellier but they can only beat what they have in front of them.

They are more then capable of beating Man City and Bayern Munich

Les Parisians have the quality to pose their opponent's problems. On the counter-attack, Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele have the pace to threaten most team's back four while a midfield three of Zaire Emery, Vitinha, and Joao Neves is very steady. Aside from the quality they have at their disposal, the French champions play more like a team without Mbappe as everything doesn't revolve around one player as shown by their first two league games.
