PSG clinched the Winter Ligue 1 champion "unofficial" title and has been declared the fall champion of 2023 in Ligue 1 without even playing this weekend against Lille following the results of the games played on Saturday.

In an unexpected turn of events that solidified PSG's leadership in the standings, both Monaco and Nice, the closest pursuers of PSG this season, dropped points on Saturday making it impossible for them to overtake PSG before the end of the first half of the season.

Monaco was defeated at home by Lyon and Nice suffered a loss at Le Havre, marking their second defeat in a row when playing on the road.

As a result of those two matches, PSG enters their Sunday matchup with a four-point lead over Nice in second place. The lead over Monaco is now at six points, with no other team having more than 27 points through Saturday's games.

PSG's lead could be further widened in their upcoming match against Lille on Sunday evening, as PSG can move seven points clear of the second place.
