PSG achieves a solid 2-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund
- PSG starts its European adventure on the right foot
- They beat a competitive Borussia Dortmund 2-0
This Tuesday, September 19, PSG received Borussia Dortmund at the Parc des Princes, on the occasion of MD1 of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, in its 2023-2024 edition. The Parisians took on the challenge of fulfilling a first commitment that seemed to be complicated, like all their matches in this phase of the top European competition, considering that they are in the most attractive group.
Luis Enrique did not present any surprises as such in his starting XI. The only novelty was the substitution of Goncalo Ramos, displaced to the bench by Randal Kolo Muani, whom the Spanish strategist considers a '9', at least for the moment. The French striker, especially outstanding when he plays wide, completed the attack front with Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele.
PSG's starting lineup vs. Dortmund: Donnarumma – Hakimi, Marquinhos, Skriniar, Hernandez – Zaire-Emery, Ugarte, Vitinha – Dembele, Kolo Muani, Mbappe.
Dortmund's starting lineup vs. PSG: Kobel – Wolf, Sule, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Ryerson – Can, Sabitzer – Brandt – Malen, Adeyemi.
PSG met expectations and got 3 points at the Parc
From the first half the Parisian team was clearly superior to BVB, both in possession and in opportunities created. Of course, the shots on goal took a while to arrive. The German team fell back and hoped to break the score with one of their counterattacks. It wouldn't work, since in the second half the Parisians would come out just as motivated.
The scoring opened at 49', courtesy of Kylian Mbappe from the penalty spot. 10 minutes later it would be Achraf Hakimi who doubled PSG's lead, after an efficient combination with Vitinha, tonight's outstanding player.
The match ended with a score of 2-0, in favor of the Parisians. Therefore, the team led by Luis Enrique will sleep as the leader in group F of the Champions League, after AC Milan and Newcastle tied 0-0 at San Siro. The next match in the top European competition for the Rouge et Bleu will be against Newcastle in St James’ Park on October 4.
