PSG vs Rennes - Grades: Forwards

4 - Messi: One of the only players a little committed to the cause of trying to at least contribute a goal and putting some pressure on Rennes throughout the game. Yes, we're talking about Messi, which is incredible to mention next to the word "committed" at this point in his club-level career and judging by what he's done for PSG since we entered the 2023 calendar year. Dropped too deep to get in touch with the ball, which is always bad news for Paris Saint-Germain as that leaves the forward line barren of connections and options to link with other than Ghost Mbappe. At least he tried, but Mbappe and Mandanda were truly focused on ruining his day.

3 - Mbappe: Whatever Mbappe was trying to do on Sunday, I don't really know if it was even remotely related to helping PSG score, draw, let alone win that game. More cardio than production. Humbling afternoon for the lad.

3 - Ekitike: It looks like PSG loaned/bought Ekitike only to finish his career before he turns 21 next June. What's the point? He doesn't start a game even when PSG clearly lacks firepower and goalscoring, comes off the pine, and gets thrown into an impossibly hard situation, and even though he shows spirit he never gets proper looks from his teammates. Sheesh...
