PSG vs Rennes - Grades: Midfielders

3 - Zaire-Emery: Subbed in for Pembele at the break after the natural defender got injured. Roamed the middle of the park but mostly played on the right side of the defense, which is clearly not his position, and that hurt his overall impact on the game.

2 - Verratti: The embodiment of PSG as a whole. Started the game showing some interest and attempting to do some stuff. Then he got lost, looked bored and uninspired, and did nothing to help carry PSG forward. Flashes from Messi/Neymar/Mbappe often bring goals, assists, or very dangerous plays. Flashes from Verratti are cool but don't quite cut it, so he needs to do a thousand times more than what he's been doing for weeks on end.

2 - Ruiz: Another alarmingly bad performance by Ruiz after a couple of recent games in which he had been relatively good and looked like he had finally found his footing in Paris. Turns out it was all a mirage and he's just plain bad.

2 - Vitinha: Cardio must feel good when done at the Parc des Princes. Another player who should sit tight, review everything he did (or better said, he did not) on tape, learn, and go from there. Ugh.

3 - Renato Sanches: Replaced Bernat but played in the midfield instead of the defense. First game back after a long time out recovering from injury (if you don't count the brief minute-long cameo a week ago) so it's not that you can blame him a lot. Showed willingness but accomplished nothing.
