PSG vs Lyon - Grades: Forwards

3 - Messi: Whistle before, during, and after the game. Quite an accolade! Lionel Messi toured Argentina through the past couple of weeks, scored a bunch of goals, broke some records, and then returned to Paris to become his usual French-soil self: a bad version of the Messi of yore. Put in the proper context, though, he had a supremely great outing compared to those of his teammates--Mbappe for example. However, that's not an excuse and although an early flash of brilliance showed up (that heel pass to Mbappe before the 10th minute) that's all there was to it.

1 - Mbappe: I have checked the stat sheet and it says that Kylian Mbappe played this game. My eyes and my brain, after a letting it all marinate for a good night of sleep, don't say the same. To say Mbappe was far from impactful is to fall way short of how awful he was at everything he did. Not that he did that much, though, other than some good old cardio. At least he attempted one shot, I guess.

dark. Next. Christophe Galtier: "PSG lacked character, personality, and pride"

1 - Ekitike: There is a condition in Ekitike's loan deal with PSG this season that would help Paris Saint-Germain to avoid purchasing him next summer: they could skip that mandatory buy if they finish outside the top-2 teams in the Ligue 1. One has to wonder if they are not losing all of these games on purpose to send poor Hugo back to Reims... assuming PSG have enough in them to win games if they wanted to, which is not that clear.
