Two PSG players plan to return to the Paris Saint-Germain training ground at Camp des Loges next week. Presnel Kimpembe and Fabian Ruiz, both injured, missed the World Cup but will be back training on Monday.
Kimpembe suffered an Achilles tendon injury and had to withdraw from the World Cup after getting called up by coach Didier Deschamps. Kimpembe couldn't stand the pain the injury was still causing him so both he and Deschamps decided resting him and not having in in Qatar would be the best for the two parties.
Kimpembe stayed with the French contingent for their debut game against Australia last week, but he left the concentration after that not feeling 100% and thus not having a chance at competing at the top of his level in the World Cup.
PSG scheduled the return to training for Monday, Dec. 5, although Kimpembe was already training at Camp des Loges last Wednesday as he revealed on an IG story.
Presnel Kimpembe and Fabian Ruiz started training ahead of PSG's schedule
Another player who returned to the training facilities of PSG earlier than expected was Spain international Fabian Ruiz. Ruiz didn't make Luis Enrique's list for the World Cup with a left adductor injury suffered in the last game Champions League match against Juventus.
Marc Mechenoua, writing for Goal, confirmed the early return of Ruiz to Camp des Loges on Twitter.
"After suffering a left adductor injury against Juventus, Fabian Ruiz has already returned to Camp des Loges to follow an individualized program and regain an optimal form ahead of the official return to training scheduled for next week," tweeted Mechenoua.
Ruiz missed the two games played after the clash against Juventus, not appearing in the games PSG played in Ligue 1 against fellow French sides Lorient and Auxerre following PSG's qualification for the UCL Round of 16.
Even while players not called up for the World Cup were given a brief vacation period by the staff of PSG, they are slowly returning to their training schedules these days. Hugo Ekitike missed the World Cup list and he is already back training with PSG at Camp des Loges.
PSG will be back playing domestic games on Dec. 28 when they host Strasbourg on Match Day 16 of the French Ligue 1.
Ekitike arrived at the training ground of the Parisian club one day before the official date set for such returns, joining Kimpembe and Ruiz earlier than scheduled.
Before official competitions kick off, though, PSG will face Paris FC in a friendly (Dec. 16) before facing Quevilly Rouen (Dec. 21) in another friendly so players who didn't attend the World Cup or returned early are properly conditioned for the second half of the season.
