PSG may need a new defensive midfielder if rumors of Manuel Ugarte going to Manchester United are to be believed. The French champions should do all they can to keep him despite giving the Red Devils the green light on the transfer.

It would be a big blow if he leaves Les Parisians after just one season, especially given the quality that he possesses. Here at PSG Post, we discuss the players that can replace Ugarte at PSG if he leaves.

Joshua Kimmich

We start off the list with a world-class player in the shape of German international Joshua Kimmich. The 29-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Bayern Munich this window with clubs around Europe strongly interested in his signature.

PSG has to fend off competition from Liverpool, Juventus, and Arsenal to acquire him at the club. The German giants have already lined up Joao Paulinha as a replacement for Kimmich.

Joao Neves

Benfica midfielder Joao Neves is a top target for Les Parisians. The stumbling block is his 120 million release clause which PSG is reluctant to pay. The French champions don't want to overpay for another player as they have made the mistake of doing this on several occasions.

They would also feel they can't blow half of their transfer budget on one player when they need to find a Mbappe replacement. The 19-year-old has no shortage of suitors with Manchester United also linked with him. The Red Devils may opt to put in a bid for him if they are unable to sign Manuel Ugarte.
