Olivier Giroud: "My relationship with Kylian Mbappe is very good"

Qualified for the quarterfinals of the World Cup, the French team could count on a formidable duo made up of AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud and PSG forward Kylian Mbappe against Poland (3-1) last Sunday.

"My relationship with [Mbappe] is very good. For me, it has always has been, it shows up on the field," said Giroud.

The veteran striker added that the two players "are very pleased to play together," saying that "it is this communicative enthusiasm that we want to transmit to the rest of the team, the youngest, those who play less. Also to give pleasure to our fans."

Obviously, the curious celebration between Mbappe and Giroud has turned into one of the most iconic pictures of the 2022 World Cup. It's definitely not gone unnoticed by the press, and the AC Milan striker was also questioned about it.

"My celebration with Mbappe after his goal? There was nothing planned, I assure you," said Giroud.

Explaining the moment in more detail, Giroud detailed that the two players just "met there" and then "a very beautiful image was generated." Giroud also joked that he "laughed a lot with the montages," before concluding that "it's natural, spontaneous."
